While many business professionals and students are familiar with the output of financial models (namely Balance sheet, Income Statement, and Statement of Cash Flows) and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, few people are truly adept at building an accurate and effective financial model from the ground up. This course presents step-by-step instructions for building effective financial models using Microsoft excel.

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to use Microsoft Excel to;

  1. Prepare a financial model assumptions worksheet and dashboard
  2. Prepare the operating budget component of a financial model
  3. Prepare the financial budget component of a financial model
  4. Prepare some outputs of a financial model like balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows etc.
  5. Analyze a financial model using sensitivity analysis, contribution margin analysis and financial ratios
  6. Use traditional valuation methodologies in relation to a financial model.

This course is targeted at individuals with a beginning to intermediate level of experience with both Microsoft Excel and finance/accounting.

The course instructor employs a hands-on-training approach. Throughout the fourteen modules, each course participant is required to build a financial model for AfroBead Limited – a fictitious Ghanaian company that produces local necklaces. Upon satisfactory completion of the course, a course participant can request for award of certificate at a fee.
